Clinical Faculty and Guest Instructor Bios Dr. Buchanan received his D.M.D. in 1969 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He began his academic career in 1972 at Georgetown University School of Dental Medicine, where he was a clinical instructor before accepting a faculty position at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio Dental School. During his 16-year tenure at University of Texas - San Antonio, he rose to the rank of professor and held several administrative positions. These included Chair of the Department of General Practice, Chair of the Department of Restorative Dentistry, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and Interim Dean, among others. Subsequently, he served as Dean of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, the New Jersey Dental School and Baylor College of Dentistry. Dr. Nisengard received his DDS in 1966 and a Periodontology Certificate and PhD from the University of Buffalo in 1970. He has been a full-time faculty member and in part-time clinical practice since that time. Dr. Nisengard is currently a Distinguished Teaching Professor of Periodontology and Microbiology and Associate Dean for Research and Advanced Education at the University of Buffalo. Eugene A. Pantera, Jr., DDS, MS, is Clinical Associate Professor in Endodontics and Assistant Dean for Continuing Dental Education at the School of Dental Medicine, State University of New York at Buffalo; formerly an Associate Professor at the Medical College of Georgia. In addition to many publications and presentations, he is the former Endodontics Section Editor for Clark's Clinical Dentistry and a contributor to Schuster's Oral Microbiology & Infectious Disease. A Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the International College of Dentists, Dr. Pantera practiced general dentistry for several years and currently maintains a faculty practice limited to Endodontics. UB/EOC Advanced Dental Assisting Program Track. Nancy has been actively
involved in the legislative process to credential and provide educational
pathways for Dental Assistants in New York State for many years.
