Increasing Quality & Comfort Utilizing Minimal Invasive Dental Concepts

Dr. Edward Swift Professor and Chairman of the Department of Operative Dentistry at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, Chapel Hill, North Carolina

This lecture and hands on session will explore the areas of minimal invasive dentistry from micro air abrasion to conservative direct and indirect restoratives. A midpoint anterior deprogrammer will be discussed as to it?s conservative nature along with its ability to protect the muscles of mastication and prevention of tension headaches and migraines.

Experience an in-office laboratory processed restorative technique that allows you to reduce the amount of tooth structure removed and provide an exceptional aesthetic result. This technique allows you to simply resolve the problem of polymerization shrinkage.

Gain a working knowledge of laboratory indirect restorations accomplished in your office along with patient and office advantages and disadvantages.
A comparison of systems available for indirect in-office laboratory processed restorations will be provided so you can understand the financial benefits of this technique.

Building Your Bottom Line...Tapping into the Power of the Dream

Dr. Kenneth Zakariasen Professor and Project Coordinator for Curriculum Transition, Marquette University School of Dentistry; Editor-in-Chief, Mosby's Year Book of Dentistry

Organizations that become wildly successful continually ask themselves such questions as "where are we today and where do we want to be tomorrow?", "what could we become at our very best?" and "what would it take to move us far ahead of all the others"? They are not afraid to dream nor are they afraid to act on their dreams. They create bold new visions for the future based on a solid foundation of values and teamwork, and they create definitive strategic actions to make their visions become reality.

This workshop will focus the dental team on learning and applying the newest organizational concepts for creating a bold vision for the future and the strategic actions that will make that vision become reality, for creating strategies for thriving amidst the continuous change that we all face in our practices, and for creating high-performance dental teams.

  • The creation for each practice of both a vision for the future and a strategic action plan to make that vision become your new reality
  • Creating the knowledge base, and learning the skills necessary, for the dental team to function as a true high-performance team
  • Learning how to adopt strategic thinking, and the skills to effectively manage change, into your practice
  • If you are successful in the above three, you can expect increased office productivity, as well as increased career satisfaction among the dental team members

At the completion of the program, participant dental teams should be able to:

  • Articulate a bold vision for the dental practice, and a strategic action plan to make that vision become reality?. in short, to create a practice strategy, a strategy based on the values held by the dental team
  • Use the values held by the dental team to identify their real bottom line for the practice, incorporate it into the vision, and then maximize the financial bottom line within this context
  • Understand how to use that strategy as the map to a better future, and as a foundation for managing change
  • Understand the process for implementing ongoing strategic thinking into the practice's everyday way of doing business
  • Begin implementation of both the practice strategy and high-performance team concepts between the first and second workshops

This workshop is a hands-on activity. Dental teams will spend most of their time working together through a guided process. It is designed to unleash innovation and creativity in developing a bold new vision of the future for each dental team. During the workshop, short mini-presentations will be given to empower the teams to action on each step of the process. This course is continuously updated with the newest concepts in organization development.

Dr. Nasser Barghi Professor and Head, Division of Esthetic Dentistry, Department of Restorative Dentistry, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School, San Antonio, Texas

Advances in adhesive dentistry and developments in materials and techniques enable us to provide our patients with more esthetically pleasing porcelain veneers and posterior etched porcelain bonded restorations. Treatment planning, selection of the materials and laboratory communication varies for porcelain veneers on non-discolored, mildly discolored or severely discolored teeth. The impossible task of making esthetically pleasing porcelain veneers for severely discolored teeth is now easily attainable with new ceramic materials and composite resins. Two decades of experience and progress with bonded porcelain restorations and new knowledge provides us with a unique opportunity to advance the quality of these life-like restorations from good to excellent.

  • New generation of porcelain restoration-alternatives in esthetic dentistry
  • Porcelain veneers
  • Posterior etched porcelain bonded restorations
  • Selection of porcelain for porcelain veneers
  • Clinical applications of new esthetic materials
  • Laboratory communications for etched porcelain bonded restorations: the key to your success
  • Failures of ceramic bonded restorations: untold stories
  • Products

Upon completion you should be able to:

  • Discuss the basic principal of etched-porcelain bonded restorations
  • List the criteria for selection of porcelain for etched-porcelain bonded restorations
  • Discuss the role and importance of substructure color in providing life-like bonded restorations
  • List steps involved in preparation and bonding of etched-porcelain bonded restorations
  • Objectively communicate the esthetic requirements of bonded ceramic restorations with ceramists

  • Learn through live TV demonstrations and slide presentations
  • See step-by-step techniques live
  • Through slides, the actual treatments are shown and through TV, the steps to achieve them are performed
  • Creation of perfect gingival margins through placement techniques in all direct composite restorations and indirect veneers
  • Restoring extensively decayed and traumatically fractured anterior teeth which have subgingival marginal demands

This all-day seminar will teach time proven techniques that will improve the manner in which many of you and your teams approach the use of direct resin-based composite systems in all regions of the mouth.

Direct veneers, diastema closing restoration, restoring traumatically fractured anterior teeth; these restorative techniques are made with a Contour Strip matrix band creating perfect gingival margins

  • Cosmetic enhancement of problem cases
  • Geriatric problem solving with flowable composite
  • Techniques for the total replacement of amalgam in a practice
  • Direct fiber reinforce bridges and post-and-core composite crowns
  • Tight contact points on posterior direct composites

Dr. Paul Belvedere has pioneered the development of simple, practical, money-making and time-saving techniques. He uses a 'common sense' approach for the practical clarification of the various and sometimes confusing techniques and materials presently found in print and at lecture venues for the placement of direct resin-based composites.

A multi-media, slide, TV demo seminar which teaches, not merely tells. This is the only lecturer teaching with this "see it live" teaching method.
